A majority of the services Doggy Hydeaway Rescue Rehab offers are typically done in the home of our customers, or at events, shelters, rescue group gatherings, etc. But, on occasion, one of our trainers will take on a dog or two that needs long term rehabilitation. The Two Paws Up facility has generously offered to fit these dogs into their program, if that dog is social with other dogs and/or people, to help with socialization as part of their rehabilitation training. Or, if a dog needs long term rehabilitation without pack socialization, our trainers can house the dog during its rehabilitation process. It is completely up to the Two Paws Up trainers and the owner to determine which dogs can use the facility grounds and services. Two Paws Up requires a temperament test at all times to be part of their pack.
Just a reminder, we are NOT a rescue. We do not take dogs in, nor do we handle the adoption process. All of the dogs we provide services for are either part of a reputable rescue group, or a private owner who will take their dog back into their home once rehabilitation is complete.
Please contact a local rescue in your area if you are looking to adopt or have a pet that needs a new home for some reason. Thank you...
Our facility has been a part of the Valley Center community since 2005. The one-acre property was purchased as a “blank slate” with only a manufactured home and a shed on the land by the previous owner of Two Paws Up, Ms. Jeanne Miller. She built out the property as a kennel-free facility that includes 8’ tall wood slat fencing around the perimeter, double gated entrances at each gate, and chain link fencing inside the facility to separate the large area into 9 separate yards to use as needed by the staff.
Several outbuildings are attached to the fenced yards that are used for feeding, storing of dogs' belongings, and for sleeping dogs. We have the ability to group-sleep dogs who are friendly and social, as well as large comfortable rooms or kennels to sleep individual dogs who cannot be left unmonitored overnight.
Large, covered patios are located in several areas around the property, providing a cool area for staff and dogs to hang out. Misters and large industrial fans have been installed for the hot summer months, which lower the temperature on the patios by 10 degrees. The property has beautiful, large trees that provide natural shade.
We also have an above-ground pool that is 4’ deep, located in a completely fenced area and always monitored by staff members when in use. The pool is a huge hit with the dogs! For those dogs who are not swimmers, we also provide kiddy pools in the yard. For safety, we have a clicker-controlled wrought iron gate at the entrance of the facility, as well as a nice parking lot for customers to use.
Cot beds are scattered throughout the yards, a big trampoline and doggy play station are also in the yard for dogs to play on. All dogs have access to a large building we call the Cabana, where they can get out of the heat or the cold and rest in a climate-controlled setting.
In order to accommodate all dogs in our care, we have the ability to utilize more private yards and sleeping areas, including using crates if necessary. Safety is our number one priority! We know that some of the dogs we will be rehabilitating are not dog friendly, so we have specific areas dedicated with their comfort in mind.
